Skripero and Troumbeta - Corfu North-West

Skripero and Troumbeta
Traffic on the main artery northwest often slows to a nearhalt as it snakes through the narrow main street of Skripero. Although it is the administrative centre for much of central northern Corfu, you would not think so from the run-down couple of shops and kafenia and lazy pace of life. The busiest person in the area must be the enterprising owner of the periptero just the other side of town, who opens well past midnight in high summer to catch the passing night-owl trade. About 3km further northwest, at the top of the ridge, TROUMBETA has even less going on but is an important junction, with shortcuts to Paleokastritsa and Agios Yeorgios bearing west on either side of the village, while the main road veers towards the north coast. The friendly Troumpeta taverna rustles up delicious grills, which you can wash down with their excellent barrelled red wine.
